Dr. Nansubuga Angel Lisa is a medical doctor and an incoming Master of Medicine (Pediatrics and Child Health) trainee at Makerere University College of Health Sciences for the 2026/2027 academic year. She currently works as a Medical Officer at Primecare hospital, Kampala and has been actively involved in clinical care and research at the Mulago National Referral Hospital Sickle Cell Clinic.
She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from Makerere University. Dr. Lisa is an Enrich Non-Degree Research Fellow and has participated in collaborative sickle cell disease research, including being part of a team that received a USD 1,000 Higher Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) research grant. Her research interests focus on pediatric sickle cell disease, adolescent health, and improving the quality of life of children and adolescents living with chronic illnesses.
Living with sickle cell disease herself has inspired her passion for advocacy, research, and patient-centered care. She aspires to become an independent clinician-scientist dedicated to advancing evidence-based care, influencing health policy, and improving outcomes for individuals living with sickle cell disease in Uganda and beyond.
