Dr. Munube is a Consultant Pediatrician and Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at Makerere University and Mulago National Referral Hospital, Kampala. Mulago National Referral Hospital is Uganda’s national comprehensive treatment center for Sickle Cell Disease. He is the Assistant Clinical Head of the Directorate of Pediatrics at Mulago National Referral Hospital and completed subspecialty training in Pediatric Haematology and Oncology. He currently heads the Paediatric Oncology Unit at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
He is the immediate Past President of the Uganda Paediatric Association (UPA) and previously served on the International Paediatric Association Strategic Advisory Group on Immunization. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Uganda National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) and Co-Chair of the Sickle Cell Working Group of the International Paediatric Association.
Dr. Munube is a Co-Investigator on both the ENRICH Project and the SPARCO Uganda Project. He is a member of the SickleInAfrica Consortium and a founding member of the Sickle Cell Disease Ontology Working Group for Africa. He also serves on the Uganda Ministry of Health Sickle Cell Disease Technical Working Group. His clinical, research, and policy expertise has contributed significantly to advancing paediatric haematology, oncology, immunization, and sickle cell disease care in Uganda and across the region.
