ENRICH is a training grant funded by the National Institute of Health. It is a five-year grant with a collaborative effort of multiple Principal Investigators from Makerere University under the department of Paediatrics and child health.

Objectives of the ENRICH Project

Aim 1

To train a multi-disciplinary team of research scientists
with expertise to assess the magnitude; pathophysiology, interventions for prevention, treatment, and control of SCD and related NCDs across the lifespan. This will be achieved through degree related long research training to increase the number of researchers working on SCD associated NCDs as per national and regional research priority areas.

Aim 2

To increase SCD and associated NCD research capacity across the lifespan

We shall conduct a series of short courses and workshops on various aspects of SCD associated NCD research, targeting faculty and students from health professional training institutions in Uganda, as well as health workers in hospitals and other health facilities.

Aim 3

To strengthen local and regional partnerships for advancing SCD and associated NCD research training and advocacy.

This will be achieved by leveraging the existing MakCHS collaborations within the region for (a) collaborative joint supervision (b) Student-stakeholder engagement workshops and (c) networking
